Many Johnson County cemeteries have been lost to time, farming and development. Others have been moved to new locations. Below is a list of cemeteries that have existed at one time or another. They are listed by township. For books of complete listings check out the Johnson County Cemetery Listings, published in 2000 by the Johnson County Historical Society.
There are 163 cemeteries listed for Johnson County. Of those, 54 have been lost due to various reasons and nine have been moved, although one of those, Pioneer Park, was only partially moved. Some of the cemeteries were moved to Atterbury Cemetery, which was established in the 1940's to move the graves to make way for Camp Atterbury. Some of the cemeteries moved to Atterbury were originally in Bartholomew County.
I can do lookups for any of these cemeteries. Contact me at brad@bradmanz.com.
Also visit the Veterans Graves
page with listings sorted by conflict.
The links below will take you to the Find A Grave
page for each cemetery. Using Find A Grave speeds the process of
posting pictures and allows for user interaction. Not all listings on
Find A Grave are complete and some have burials in the wrong cemetery
or have cemetery or surnames spelled differently than on the sign or
headstone. I contact the Find A Grave guy from time to time when I find
errors and they usually get them corrected quickly. Ultimately this
will be a better way to share the information with everyone and allow
others to pitch in.
This will search the listings posted to Find
A Grave. If a name you are looking for is not here please contact me
and I will search the books that I have.

all but two of the Pleasant Township cemeteries are gone. Of the nine

one is still accessable (Pleasant Grove), two have been moved to the
